About · Pete Baynham, London

I draw the things I loved first and never properly grew out of.

r2doodle2 is my drawing journal. Each finished drawing is a plate, and the plates are gathered into volumes.

The Vampire LordThe Vampire Lord, drawn on paperThe Vampire Lord: on paper first, finished in Procreate.
How a plate happens

Three stages, every time.

A rabbit hole

Most plates start late at night, as a face or a pose I can't stop thinking about.

The lines

Inked the following week, on paper or straight onto the iPad.

The colour

Coloured in Procreate. On every plate you can pull the line back and see both.

Why volumes

In runs, by season, by whatever I was obsessed with at the time.

So far that has meant a vampire, a wolf man, three zombies, a pickle with a werewolf problem and a reaper who won an award. The Festive Volume is being drawn now.

The mark

An alien, an astromech, and a doodle of my own name.

It sits in the corner of every page. Now you know who they are.

Commissions

Got a character in mind?

Rough notes are enough to start. The list is kept short on purpose.

Don’t miss a doodle

A short note whenever a new plate is finished or a volume goes to print. Only when there is something new, and never anything else.
